It is becoming more popular to have a bar or bar cart in the home, especially a farmhouse bar. Let’s be honest, furniture helps create useful space and organization; furthermore, who doesn’t love to have a space for their beverages?!

As we have seen this shift, I have decided to add one into my home. If you have ever walked into my home, you will notice that most of my home furniture follows the style of what I sell. I have been told the farmhouse style (white painted based and dark stained top) can be a little boring, but it is all about decorating and adding to the furniture. I also love having my own, farmhouse-style furniture in my home in case I want to sell it in the future (or if someone wants to make me an offer!)

My Farmhouse Bar

Refinished Bar

I recently decided it was time for a bar in my home and my friends at Habitat Restore in Cary had the perfect piece waiting for me. It was a cherry wood piece that had been well-loved previously. I forgot to get before pictures of it, but you can see something similar to what it looked like before on the right.

This piece took longer than normal to refinish due to the bleeding of the older, cherry wood through the paint colors. With this particular piece, I primed and painted it, let it sit for a few weeks then came back with another round of prime and paint to brighten up the paint.

I’ve now got this placed in my dining room and you can see, it’s very simple and fits in with the existing décor nicely. It needs a few more beverages added to it and definitely a fun sign to sit on top, but it’s a great addition to the dining room and adds a lot of function.
